How To Get Unstuck According to Science
Follow the 10 Minute Rule
Steve Jobs had a rule - if he hadn’t solved his problem after 10-minutes of thinking, he would go for a walk.
And as neuroscience is now proving, Jobs was right. Walking makes your brain work better, helping you to overcome problems you were stuck on while sitting.
If you’re a work from home Freelancer, you need to make that extra effort to get out of the house and go for a walk. We don’t have the commute which can often add a few thousands extra steps to our count each day.
Even a short walk round the block can do wonders for your mood and apparently brain power.
Here are some of the other health benefits of walking - improves cardiovascular health, lowers blood pressure, increases bone strength, enhances muscle endurance, strengthens immune function, improves balance and coordination, supports joints, and promotes better sleep.
Happy walking! 🚶➡️🚶♀️➡️

Lauren’s Heating Hack
This was a big hit in our Morning Accountability Group last week. Co-Founder Lauren shared that she uses a heated drying rack to ease her guilt about keeping the heating on during the winter while working from home.
The drying rack serves two purposes: it dries her clothes quickly and keeps her warm during the process.

Did You Hear The YouTube Announcement?
YouTube has long been considered the high-brow platform for content creation that is competing with the likes of Netflix. Long-form well polished videos are the name of the game over there.
In 2021 YouTube entered the short-form content market with ‘Shorts’ - 60 second vertical video much like Instagram Reels and TikTok.
That 60 second limit was always a pain for a lot of creators, so last week YouTube finally announced that they are extending Shorts to 3 minutes.
Starting October 15th, your vertical videos under 180 seconds will automatically be added as a Short.
This is great news for those that regularly post Reels or upload to TikTok as you now have a new platform for discovery.
And on that point about YouTube competing with Netflix, did you know that YouTube is now watched more than Netflix in the US.

eBay is Now Free!
A lot of us have multiple sources of income and for some, eBay is a great way to earn a few extra £££s. Last month eBay announced they will no longer take a cut of sales on the platform!
Having already announced no fees on clothing sales, presumably to compete with the likes of Vinted and Depop - eBay have now extended this to all categories (except motors).

The Day You Became A Better Writer
“The main technique is keeping things simple. Simple writing is persuasive. A good argument in five sentences will sway more people than a brilliant argument in a hundred sentences. Don’t fight it.” - Scott Adams

How to Make Better Presentations With AI
Try Gamma. Or ChatGPT with these instructions.

We need another social media app like we need a hole in the head, but, that won’t stop people from trying. Retro seems to be gaining popularity at the moment and is worth a look.

And we will leave you this week with this idea from James Clear - focus on your likes…
"Focus on your likes, not your wants.
You may not want to exercise, but you like how it makes you feel.
You may not want to write, but you like the feeling of accomplishment.
You may not want to wake up early, but you like the calm beauty of morning.
Wanting is the desire you feel before doing something. Liking is the satisfaction you feel after doing something. Let your likes guide you."
