Inside the Creative Mind of Gorillaz Bassist Seye
Seye Adelekhan in East London
We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with our friend Seye Adelekhan, bassist for the iconic band Gorillaz and a talented musician and creative human. His journey and insights are a testament to the power of creativity, collaboration, and resilience in the freelance world.
Here’s a snippet from the interview:
Lauren: In your journey as a musician, what advice have you been given / what have you learnt from the people you’ve worked with in your career?
Seye: I can’t say I’ve been given loads of advice directly, but I’ve observed a lot of great people. I spent the best part of the past 10 years working with Gorillaz and with Damon Albarn. One thing I’ve learned from him is that his superpower is putting great people together. Collaboration is key. Music is a team sport, even if you’re a solo artist. Surrounding yourself with great people who push you to get better is crucial.
